Joint pain as a measure of safety and tolerability of the biopsy procedure. Pain at the biopsy site was measured pre-biopsy (pre), immediately post-biopsy (post), after 1 week (1 wk), and 1 month (1 mo) using a visual analog scale (VAS) ranging from 0 to 100 mm. Any worsening of ≥ 20 mm compared to pre-biopsy assessment was interpreted as secondary to the procedure. As shown in the figure, pain scores showed non-significant changes with a mean (SD) ΔVAS of − 4 (7) immediately after biopsy, 2.3 (12) at the 1 week, and − 3.3 (3.9) at the 1 month review
